Individual Schedules – Select “My Schedule” Icon

Select your name from the UCR FM1-SMW dropdown list & select “Create Schedule”

EXAMPLE SCHEDULE:

Reading your Schedule:

Each Red “Half Moon” denotes your Shift of the Day:

  • SM Admitting Day Int 6a-6p: stays through evening signout to night team

  • SM Non-Admit Int 6a-6p: normal day shift, may signout before evening signout at discretion of Senior resident

  • SM Night Int 6p-6a: night shift

  • SM Int OFF: your day off that week

  • FM Int Clinic: for UCLA FM Residents when they need to go to Continuity Clinic

  • Blank” – nothing scheduled, you are post-nights

Know Before You Go! - Badge & Parking

You will need your badge for your first day –

BADGE ACCESS

  • RFID in your badge will give you access to the parking structure and certain locked doors on campus (eg. call room suite, ER entry, etc)

  • Know where your “UCLA ID Number” and “Prox Card #” are on your badge – these are the numbers that security will need to fix any access issues you have with your badge

You can park in any spot except for “Green Permit” and otherwise labeled spots.

Cars are often “double parked” during weekdays – if this happens to you:

  • Follow directions of onsite parking attendant as to where to park

  • Provide your keys to the parking attendant, take a ticket

  • When ready to retrieve your vehicle, find a parking attendant on the floor that you parked on OR ask the first floor parking attendant for assistance

    • Same if your car is blocked by another vehicle

  • If after 6p, your keys will be kept with Security in the Hospital Lobby

The Santa Monica UCLA Hospital Entrance/Lobby is North up 16th Street on the Left

Up the ramp, into the double doors, leading into the Lobby.

Getting Around Santa Monica UCLA

Lobby:

Walk to the back to the hallway just before the windowed double doors – this is the main hallway.

Main Hallway Directions:

To the Right –

  • Cafeteria all the way down to the end of the hallway on the Right

  • Elevators to the Wards (6th Floor) down past the gift shop, on your right.

To the Left –

Down the Hallway – you will see an open stairwell

  • Call Rooms: Short stairwell up – leads to a bank of elevators, walk past them and turn Right. Walk down the hall and the Call Rooms will be on the Right (Badge Access)

  • ER: Short stairwell down – turn right – two doors to the ER, one in front (Gyn, ENT rooms, & Fast Track) and one to your right (ER rooms 10s & 20s) = Badge Access

 

Santa Monica Pediatrics – 6 North-West (6NW)

  • Step off the elevators & turn right

  • The nurses station will be on your left – walk past then turn left in the hallway

  • Immediately on your left will be the Resident Workroom

Step 1: Enroll in DUO

  • Multi-Factor Authentication – required for SPOK paging app onboarding, remote EMR access, etc

Step 4: Install Citrix and Access CareConnect Remote

  • Steps to required for remote EMR access

Step 5 & 6 & 8: Ensure Computer Encryption & Install Trellix Endpoint Security & Install OnGuard for Onsite Access

  • Steps required for laptop access to hospital secure wifi (UCLAHealthSecure)

Step 9: Mobile Device Encryption with Intelligent Hub

  • Required to use phone for SPOK paging app & EPIC Haiku Mobile app

Choose Department: MD PED HOSPITALIST

Create your List(s):

Creating SM Pediatrics List:

  • Name list: “SM Pediatrics”

  • Select “Copy” at bottom right

One (of many) Column Template options: “SMW PEDS [38205]

Adding Team List to new “SM Pediatrics” My List:

Find Available Lists (bottom Left)

  • Select “SM” -> Primary Team SM -> Pediatrics - Hospitalists

Right Click – Send to – SM Pediatrics

Adding Team List to new “SM Pediatrics” My List:

Find Available Lists (bottom Left)

  • Select “SM” -> Primary Team SM -> Pediatrics - Critical Care

  • Right Click - Send to - SM Pediatrics

This should create your list of all SM Pediatric Patients -

“Pediatrics – Hospitalists” = all the patients on floor status

“Pediatrics – Critical Care” = all the patients in the SM Step Down Unit (DKA, Home Vent Pts, s/p spinal surgery)

Use same steps above to create “SM ED” My List

  • Find SM ED patient list

  • SM -> Units – SM -> ED

These should be shared with you in CARECONNECT – however, we can only do so if/when you have CARECONNECT access. So if you do not have these “dotphrases”, you can copy them from any current UCLA Peds resident:

Epic button -> Tools -> SmartTool Editors -> My SmartPhrases

At the top: “User” – search for a current UCLA Peds Resident you are working with

Scroll down and highlight all smartphrases that start with: “pedsres[ ]”

Then at the top select “Add to My SmartPhrases”

Used by Nursing, Staff, & Physician for Non-Urgent clinical communication

On CareConnect Desktop:

Can search by name, pager ID

On Call List - Search by Service, who is “on call” for the service:

Usually look for SMH Pediatric [blank]

 

Pager Coverage

Signout pager to be covered by another pager/resident

Most commonly used after signout to night team intern

Start with “Personal Profile” -> Profile

  • Pager ID: [your 5 digit pager ID number]

  • Password: [initial password is “12345”]

 

Select Coverage -> +New

Put in pager number of covering intern (usually night intern) – or search by name

Set Start Time & End Time of the coverage

Press “Save”
