Welcome to PHABB (Public Health & Ambulatory Basics & Beyond)!
You have been introduced to your community through your continuity clinic and hospital rotations during the intern year and are ready to gain a more in-depth understanding of the interplay between families, schools, and communities. During your PHABB rotations, you will become more involved in your community. PHABB will also include opportunities for you to increase your own professional “tool kit” to better address children’s health in various contexts through seminars, site visits, service-based learning, and skill-building activities.
Overall PHABB Goals:
-
Address psychological, social, economic and environmental determinants of health
-
Utilize individual and community-based health promotion and prevention strategies
-
Advocate on behalf of children and families for more comprehensive and integrated community based service
