-If a family declines Dr. Wetter's services, they should understand they are essentially foregoing any psychological evaluation short of acute psychiatric needs.

-If your team has further questions, consider discussing with Dr. Lin or at SM psychosocial rounds on Wednesday afternoons.

Neonates and Neonatology Services: In general terms, residents rotating at Santa Monica have no role in the Nursery or NICU. For all neonates who are admitted from the outside or are in the ED and require discussion with a pediatrician, the primary contact person is as follows: 1) the primary community pediatrician, if the patient has one 2) the Pediatric Hospitalist Attending, if the patient does not have a primary community pediatrician. Neither the neonatology attending nor the neonatology fellow should be contacted for routine management (i.e. hyperbilirubinemia, rule-out sepsis) of newborns admitted from the outside. The neonatology service is always available if there is a question requiring the expertise of a neonatologist. In this case, the neonatology attending, not the neonatology fellow, should be contacted after discussion with the community or UCLA pediatrician.
